Rain Continues To Pound Odisha, Schools Remain Shut In Several Districts

**Bhubaneswar:** Schools and educational institutions across several districts of the State remained closed today due to the heavy rains in various pockets of the State.

Schools in Kendrapara, Sundergarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Nayagarh and Cuttack districts remained closed today in view of IMD’s alert that was issued yesterday.

Regional Director H R Biswas had informed on Thursday that the low pressure over Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and is likely to persist for another 24 hours.

Notably on Thursday evening, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered closure of Anganwadi Centres and Bhubaneswar schools for today and had directed district Collectors to take appropriate steps for implementation of the orders after assessing the rain situation.
