Bhubaneswar: Rain demons are all set to spoil Durga Puja this year with Regional Meteorological Department predicting thunderstorm with moderate yet scattered rainfall across 12 districts of the State.
Speaking to Ommcom News, Regional Met Department Director HR Biswas made the predictions public. He said, “There is a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and Odisha will witness effects of the cyclonic circulation within 24 hours.”
“Some places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, and Ganjam districts will witness thunderstorm, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall for the next 24 hours. Other districts might witness light thunderstorm and rainfall.”
“Post 48 hours, there are chances that the intensity of thunderstorm and rainfall might escalate.”
“The partly cloudy weather of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will continue for next two days. After this time period, some areas of the twin cities might witness scattered rainfall.”
Speaking about past rainfall predictions, he said, “Gop in Puri district received the highest of 58.2 mm rainfall whereas Alipingal in Jagatsinghpur received 26.2 mm of rainfall.”
