Bhubaneswar: Several parts of coastal Odisha experienced moderate rainfall under the influence of low pressure that intensified into a deep depression over the West-central Bay of Bengal.
Paradip has recorded a maximum 6.9 mm rainfall in last 24 hours while Mahakalapada of Kendrapara received 5.0 mm rain. The Gadarpur in Kendrapara and Astaranga in Puri district experienced 4.0 mm rainfall each.
Kakatpur and Puri town witnessed 3.0 mm and 0.1 mm rainfall respectively in the last 24 hours, Met department stated.
The Deep Depression lay centred over the westcentral Bay of Bengal about 380 km east-southeast of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 380 km south of Paradip (Odisha), 530 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) and 670 km southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
The weather agency predicted light to moderate rain and thundershower at a few places over the districts of Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Puri, Khordha, Mayurbhanj in next 24 hours. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha, IMD stated through a special bulletin.
Yellow warning (be updated) has been issued to Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts in the next 24 hours.
The sea condition will be rough to very rough from November 16 to Novemebr 18.
Distant Cautionary Signal No-I (DC-I) has been issued at all ports of Odisha.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till November 18.
