Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday forecast that light to moderate rain/thundershowers with lightning is likely to affect some parts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar and Ganjam within the next three hours.
The weather office has issued a yellow alert for these districts.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapara on Wednesday.
