Rain Wrecks Havoc In Odisha, 20 Gates Of Hirakud Opened To Release Flood Water

Bhubaneswar: As many as 20 gates of Hirakud Dam were opened by Monday morning to release flood water. Meanwhile, the water levels are reportedly rising in Mahanadi at Naraj.

Status of Hirakud Reservoir (at 9 AM on September 9)

Reservoir Level: 625.56 Rising

Full Reservoir Level: 630ft

Avg Inflow: 3,37,395 Cusecs

Avg Outflow: 3,37,395 Cusecs 

Discharge at Khairmal: 6,62,000 Cusecs

Discharge at Barmul: 6,61,000 Cusecs

Discharge at Mundali: 7,30,877 Cusecs

Additionally, water level is also rising in Kushabhadra and Subarnrekha Rivers, as per Regional Meteorological Department communiqué.

River Kushabhadra is flowing at 7.64 meters against the stipulated danger level of 9.85 at Nimapada. Meanwhile, River Subarnrekha is flowing at 45.36 meters with respect to danger mark of 48.32 at Jamsholaghat and at 6 meters with danger level at 10.36 at Rajghat. Necessary warnings have been issued.

River Vansadhara at Kashinagar was flowing dangerously at 53.95 meters but the water levels here are reportedly falling.
