**Bhubaneswar: ** “The Depression which was present over North Bay of Bengal has moved Northwestwards and lay centered today morning about 160 Km east of Balasore. The system is likely to move West-Northwestwards and cross West Bengal Coast close to Digha by today afternoon or evening,” said Sarat Sahu, Director, Met Department.
Rain or thunder shower very likely to occur at most places over North Odisha and many places over South Odisha during next 24 hours .
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over North Odisha and Heavy rainfall at one or two places over districts of South Odisha during next 24 hours,” added the Met Official.
“More rains are expected in the catchment area of Subarnarekha river, Baitarani river and Budhabalanga river. But the amount of rainfall will lessen by tomorrow,” he said.
Local Cautionary Signal Number Three (LC-III) kept hoisted at all ports in Odisha, according to the Met official.
Strong Gusty surface wind from Northwesterly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting 65 kmph may prevail along and off Odisha coast. Sea condition would be rough to very rough in Odisha coast. Sea wave height may increase upto 3 to 4 meters.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea in Odisha Coast.
In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall recorded in the State is 182 mm in Rajkanika.
