Baripada: The Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) authority has suspended the Ranger in charge of the Simlipal – Jenabil forest range, a forester, and a forest guard over the illegal disposal of an elephant carcass.
The elephant was killed by smugglers and abandoned in the forests following which the local forest personnel allegedly disposed of the carcass in a water body.
The matter was reported to STR authority over the phone after which a team of 50 forest officials and veterinarians was setup which investigated the matter.
In-Charge Ranger Shiv Kumar Samal, Forester, and Forest Guard have been suspended for dereliction of duty, Deputy Director STR, Samrat Gowda said.
