Bhubaneswar: A rape accused, Amit Das, managed to escape police custody in Barbil, Keonjhar district, on Monday.

According to reports, Das, who was arrested by Barbil police on rape charges, fled while he was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Barbil for medical check-up.

During the visit to the CHC, Das requested permission from the accompanying police officer to use the toilet.

After a significant delay, the police discovered that Das had escaped by climbing through the toilet’s ventilator.
