Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today reviewed various aspects of the rape case involving an Odia girl during his New Delhi visit. He scrutinized the victim’s health, investigation progress, and other matters related to the case in Delhi.

During this meeting, Inspector General (IG), of Crime Against Women and Children Wing (CAW & CW) S Shyni, briefed the Chief Minister on the case development.

With the state government’s assistance, family members of the victim, who hails from a coastal town in Odisha, are present there.

Meanwhile, senior Odisha police officials are coordinating with Delhi Police to identify and apprehend the accused involved in this case.

Concerned over the incident, the CM had earlier asked Shyni to hold discussions with Delhi Police to ensure that the investigation is done speedily. Shyni has also been asked to meet the victim and inquire about her health. Besides, DGP YB Khurania also spoke to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora regarding the incident.

It is pertinent to mention that the 34-year-old victim was found in a semi-conscious state at Sarai Kale Khan in the early hours of October 11. As per preliminary probe, the woman was allegedly raped at some other spot and dumped in the area. She had left her hometown a year ago.

The Odisha Resident Commissioner’s office in Delhi is keeping a close eye on the investigation of the case. Originally from a coastal town in Odisha, the woman had been working for a private organization in Delhi before the incident occurred.
