Bhubaneswar: The Pathani Samanta Planetarium has made special arrangements for the public to witness a rare cosmic event showcasing six planets—Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus—aligned in a straight line.
This celestial phenomenon has drawn significant excitement among students and the general public, with many expressing delight after observing the planets through telescopes set up at the planetarium.
The planets, currently visible in their orbits in a straight alignment, create a stunning evening spectacle.
Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn can be seen with the naked eye, while Neptune and Uranus are visible through binoculars and telescopes. The Department of Science and Technology has ensured smooth arrangements for the public to enjoy this rare event.
“Special arrangements have been made on the planetarium premises to facilitate viewing this cosmic parade. Four telescopes have been installed to provide a closer look at Neptune and Uranus. The viewing sessions are open daily, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, except on Mondays, and will continue until January 31,” said Urmiprabha Maharana, the acting director in charge of the planetarium.
The planetary alignment has created widespread enthusiasm, especially among students, who have eagerly gathered at the planetarium to explore the wonders of space. The Department of Science and Technology has been commended for its efforts to make this rare event accessible to the public.
