Bhadrak: A rare golden turtle was rescued today in Bentalpur village in Chandabali block of Bhadrak district.
The rare turtle was spotted by farmer Nirakar Mohanty is his paddy fields. He brought is back home and even offered prayers to it. A huge crowd was gathered at his home to catch a glimpse of the golden turtle.
Nirakar also informed the Forest Department who then took possession of the turtle. Chandbali Forrester Subash Nayak informed that the rare golden turtle usually stays in freshwater and has never been seen in this area. He added that it might have come to the area along with floodwater. Upon discussion with the DFO, Subash said that the golden turtle might be released in Bhitarkanika National Park.
A few days ago on July 19, an extremely rare yellow coloured turtle was rescued at Sujanpur village in Soro block of Balasore district.
