Rasagolla GI Tag Issue: High Court Serves Notices To Odisha Govt, 3 Other Parties

**Cuttack:** The Orissa High Court on Wednesday served notices to Odisha Chief Secretary, SJTA, West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology, and Intellectual Property Office at Chennai while hearing a petition on cancellation of Geographical Indication (GI) tag for West Bengal Rasagolla.

Briefing the media today, Siddharth Prasad Das, Advocate, Orissa High Court said, “Rasagolla is the ancient identify of Odia people. It is the pride and identity of the people of Odisha. In relation to this, Odia Parba and Punya Uttkala Anusthan had filed a case in the High Court.”

“Our argument before the Honourable Court was that the tag that has been given to the state of West Bengal is illogical and we want the GI tag for Odisha since it’s our identity”, he informed.

After the hearing, the court has served notices to all the organisations related in this matter.
