Bhubaneswar: Rasulgarh Durga Puja Committee has made an attempt to worship Goddess Durga in an environmentally conscious manner.
The organisers have spared no efforts to create a massive 120 feet wide and 80 feet tall replica of Delhi’s Akshardham temple using bamboo, ice cream sticks and other bio-degradable materials.
“Like every year Rasulgarh Puja Committee has made a conscious attempt to celebrate Durga Puja in an eco-friendly manner. No colour has been used either in the idol or in the tableau or the arches that will pollute the environment.
We are using bamboo sticks and other natural products to create a replica of Delhi’s Akshardham temple,” said Pradeep Arsal, an office-bearer of the Rasulgarh Puja Committee.
Wood, bamboo, small ice cream sticks, cloth, sholapith (Indian cork) has been used for making the intricate designs of the interior and exterior of the structure, stated Asutosh Pradhan, an artisan engaged in the construction of the tableau.
This year Rasulgarh Durga Puja is entering its 30th year of Durga Puja celebration, said Arsal.
