Puri: On the second day of Rath Yatra in Puri, the Holy Trinity Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were ushered to the Adapa Mandap inside the Gundicha Temple in ‘Goti Pahandi’.

As per tradition, Ramakrushna from Taladhwaja, chariot of Lord Balabhadra, and Madan Mohan from Nandighosha, chariot of Lord Jagannath, were first taken into the Gundicha temple followed by the ‘Chaturdhamurati’ – Sudarshan, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Jagannath.

The pahandi procession started after offering of ‘Sandhya Dhupa’ at 6.00 PM sharp. The deities will stay at Gundicha temple till July 12 when they will return to the Jagannath temple during the Bahuda Yatra.

According to legends the Adapa Mandap is the altar where the idols of the deities were constructed.
