Bhubaneswar: Lakhs of devotees of Lord Jagannath on Monday rejoiced as the Holy Trinity rode their chariots to their aunt’s residence, the Gundicha Temple in Puri. The deities will be taken to Adapa Mandap inside the Gundicha temple, believed to be the birthplace of the deities, on Tuesday evening. Till then, darshan of the trinity will be held at Saradha Bali.
The Holy Trinity will be taken into the Gundicha Temple after the ‘Adapa Mandap Bije’ as part of the ritual. Following the ‘Sandhya Dhupa’ ceremony, the ‘Charamalas’ of the chariots will be fixed, and the Holy Trinity, accompanied by Lord Sudarshana, will be taken to the ‘Janmabedi’ in a procession called Goti Pahandi’. Additionally, Lord Madana Mohan and Ramakrushna will also be escorted to the Adapa Mandap. Thereafter, devotees can have darshan of the Lords inside the temple, said sources.
The Lords will remain in the Gundicha Temple for a week and during this period all the rituals of Srimandir are observed there. During this period, devotees can relish ‘Adapa Abhada’, the special prasad prepared in the temple.
It is believed that those who can get a glimpse of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on the ‘Adapa Mandapa’, would get rid of all sins committed in hundred births.
On the ninth day of their journey, the deities return to their abode. This is known as ‘Bahuda Yatra’.
