Bhubaneswar: The second day of pulling chariots of the Holy Trinity, Lord Jagannath, and His Sibling deities, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, to resume today.
On Sunday, the pulling of chariots started at 5 pm, followed by ritualistic ‘Pahandi Bije’ and other traditional rituals of the deities, which include Chhera Pahanra niti performed by the titular king of Puri, Charamala Phita, Ghoda lagi, and Sarathi lagi nitis (rituals) of the Trinity.
The pulling of raths came to a halt after sunset as per the ancient traditions, leaving chariots of three deities halted at different positions.
Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra, the eldest sibling of all, halted at Marichikote Chhak, Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalana Chariot near Srikrishna Cinema Hall.
Whereas Lord Jagannath’s world-famous Nandighosha chariot halted after being pulled a few metres away from the Singhadwara, the main entrance gate of the Lord Jagannath Temple, Puri.
Lakhs of enthusiastic devotees gathered at the Grand Road of Puri to witness the majestic raths of the deities and pull the chariots.
