Bhubaneswar: The Raja Prasad Bije Niti ritual will be held at Jagannath Temple in Puri on Wednesday.
The ritual of Daitapati servitors visiting the Gajapati’s palace (Sri Nahar) to inform about the recovery of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from fever is called the Raja Prasad Bije Niti.
As per the ritual, the Daitapati servitors will go in a procession carrying prasada chandan, karala chandan removed from the deities on a silver platter to the Sri Nahar and tell the Gajapati that the deities have been recovered after being served ‘Dasamula Osua’ (ten herbs) on occasion of the ‘Dashami tithi’.
It is pertinent to mention that ‘Dasamula Osua’ which was prepared by the Raj Baidya was given to the sibling deities, who were in the ‘Anasara Gruha’ (sick room) since the ‘Snana Purnima’.
As Lord Jagannath and his siblings have completely recovered, the devotees are excited to have a smooth darshan of the Lords on the occasion of Naba Joubana Darshan and Rath Yatra.
On Tuesday, Khalilagi Ekadashi, also known as Anasara Ekadashi, is a significant event primarily observed in Jagannath temples. It precedes the renowned Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra. One of the notable rituals performed on this day is the Sarbhanga neeti, which involves the generous use of sandalwood paste at the Jagannath temple. This ritual holds great importance in the shrine’s traditions.
It may be mentioned that As the world-famous festival is coinciding with Netra Utsav and Nabajaubana of the deities on July 7 this year, the chariots will be pulled for a short distance on July 7 and it will again resume the next day. Chariot pulling will be continued for two days like 1971 Rath Yatra.
