Bhubaneswar: The Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg conducted a hearing on Saturday at the Department of P&C in the Lok Seva Bhawan as part of her inquiry into the June 29 stampede near the Gundicha temple that claimed three lives during Rath Yatra festivities.
According to a release issued by the Information & Public Relations Department, five senior police officers, who were on duty in various capacities during the conduct of the Rath Yatra, attended the hearing on Saturday.
Garg is scheduled to hear testimonies from more senior officers from the civil and police administrations today.
Earlier, 40 officials who were on duty during the incident attended the hearing held in Puri’s Circuit House and presented their accounts of the events.
Besides, Garg had conducted an on-site inspection of the alleged stampede location near Gundicha Temple in Puri. Accompanied by the Collector and Superintendent of Police of Puri and the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, she held preliminary discussions with police officials, servitors, and members of the media.
Notably, the stampede, which occurred near the Gundicha Temple, resulted in the deaths of three devotees.
