Bhubaneswar: The Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg conducted a hearing on Tuesday at the Special Circuit House in Puri, as part of an inquiry into the June 29 stampede near the Gundicha temple that claimed three lives during Rath Yatra festivities.
According to a release issued by the Information & Public Relations Department, as many as 40 officials who were on duty during the incident attended the hearing and presented their accounts of the events.
Earlier, Garg conducted an on-site inspection of the alleged stampede location near Gundicha Temple in Puri. Accompanied by the Collector and Superintendent of Police of Puri and the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, she held preliminary discussions with police officials, servitors, and members of the media.
Notably, the stampede, which occurred near the Gundicha Temple, resulted in the deaths of three devotees. The committee has also requested anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to submit it via email to puritragedy.enquiry@odisha.gov.in by July 20.
