Bhubaneswar: The investigation committee led by Development Commissioner Anu Garg will record witness statements today in connection with the stampede incident that occurred near the Gundicha temple during the Rath Yatra in Puri.
People who witnessed the incident are requested to provide their testimony between 3 pm and onwards at the Circuit House in Puri.
According to reports, the probe committee is gathering information on various aspects, including the circumstances leading to the stampede, the role of security arrangements, and crowd management. The panel had previously recorded statements from 17 individuals in Bhubaneswar in connection with the incident.
Earlier, Garg conducted an on-site inspection of the alleged stampede location near Gundicha Temple in Puri. Accompanied by the Collector and Superintendent of Police of Puri and the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, she held preliminary discussions with police officials, servitors, and members of the media.
The enquiry report is expected to be submitted within a month.
Notably, the stampede, which occurred near the Gundicha Temple, resulted in the deaths of three devotees. The committee has also requested anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to submit it via email to puritragedy.enquiry@odisha.gov.in by July 20.
