Puri: The repair work of Ratna Bhandar of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will be temporarily halted for four days starting March 31.
The decision was taken in view of important rituals of the trinities like ‘Khasapadalagi’ and Banakalagi’ to be held during these days.
The work will resume on April 4 as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) laid down by the state government and protocol of the temple administration.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, has sought cooperation from all in this regard.
After a crucial meeting of the temple management, the SJTA chief administrator on Saturday said that the repair work is expected to be over by Akshya Tritiya.
Five rusty iron beams between the outer and inner Ratna Bhandar were replaced with stainless steel beams. The stones are being replaced, and chemical washing is underway, he added.
The repair work of the temple treasure trove has been continuing since December 17, 2024. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which is undertaking the repair of the Ratna Bhandar, has set a target to complete the process within three months.
After remaining closed for 46 years, the revered treasury of the 12th-century shrine was reopened in July last year for an inventory of valuables and the repair of its structure.
