Bhubaneswar: The Durga Puja festivities concluded on Sunday night with the Rabana Podi (burning of effigies of the demon king Ravan) across Odisha on Vijaya Dashami.
In Bhubaneswar, the Rabana Podi marking the victory of good over evil was organised at 10 places –Jharpada, Baramunda, Naharkanta, Koradakanta, Bankual, Gopalpur, KIIT Road, Chandaka, Simulia Patna Dola Jatra field and Kapil Prasad football ground.
Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida graced the event at Nayapalli. She lit a firecracker that zipped through to the effigy of Rabana, setting it on fire.
Outstanding fireworks were on display during the Rabana Podi after burning the effigies of the demon king. A large number of people had gathered at all the venues to witness Ravbana Podi and fireworks.
The puja committees made elaborate arrangements for the Rabana Podi and fireworks, while the Commissionerate Police ensured safety measures.
The Cuttack district administration organised Rabana Podi at the Bali Yatra ground on the bank of the Mahanadi river.
Rabana Podi was also organised at Rourkela, Sambalpur, Khurdha, Puri and other parts of the state with great enthusiasm.
