**Bhubaneswar:** This Dussehra is set to become more spectacular for people visiting Capital city as two puja pandals here are going to resume the ‘Ravan Podi’ after a gap of two years.
The Baramunda Durga Puja committee and Jharpada committee have been allowed to conduct ‘Ravan Podi’, burning of effigies of demon king Ravan to mark the triumph of good over evil, on this ‘Bijaya Dasami’.
Both the committee members have agreed to follow the Supreme Court guidelines, as per which a barricade should be put up within a radius of 100 metres of the effigy of Ravan.
The apex court had in 2016 issued some norms for conduct of ‘Ravan Podi’ after more than 100 people died in a mishap during a fireworks show at a temple in Kerala.
As per the SC directive, police and fire personnel should be present during the ‘Ravana Podi’.
Earlier this month, Commissionerate Police in its traffic restrictions for Durga Puja had stated that the entire vehicular traffic coming on NH-16 from Cuttack shall be diverted from Jaydev Vihar to CRP Square via Behera Sahi, Sastri Nagar, Power House and Unit-8 DAV.
