Bhubaneswar: Hours after issuing an order restricting the presence of female employees and students on the premises after 5.30 PM, Ravenshaw University in Cuttack withdrew it.
According to the directives announced a couple of hours back, no female faculty member, female employee or student will be allowed to stay on campus after 5:30 pm.
The university’s registrar’s office had issued a circular stating that these guidelines will remain in effect until a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is put in place.
The decision is reportedly aimed at ensuring the safety and security of female students and staff on campus, as well as regulating working hours.
However, following a reconsideration, the varsity authorities withdrew the order stating that the administration decided to come up with a comprehensive safety guideline applicable to all students and staff, irrespective of gender.
