**Cuttack: ** Basing on the allegations of massive irregularities and in the wake of Odisha Governor-cum-Chancellor’s probe order, a single-member team represented by Higher Education Department’s Under Secretary today reached the historic university in the millennium city here and began his enquiry.
Soon after arriving at the campus, Odisha Higher Education Under Secretary Prasant Kumar Das informed media, “There are lots of allegations against irregularities in the Ravenshaw Univeristy. I’ve been ordered to probe into the allegations. I’m trying my best to probe into and submit my report.”
“The allegations include irregularities in the management, about appointments and also financial irregularities,” he added.
He also informed, “Today I would start my probe and I have to see how far I can probe into. As per need in due course of my enquiry, I will proceed for further queries with prior intimation to my higher ups. Then I will submit a report to our Department’s Principal Secretary.”
Notably, the move comes after Odisha Governor and Chancellor Ganeshi Lal in July sought a probe into the alleged irregularities and directed the Higher Education Department for immediate action. He has also ordered to submit report within 60 days.
According to the Higher Education Department sources, there are 50 to 60 allegations of different nature and the inquiry has been ordered after receiving a large number of complaints against both Ravenshaw and Berhampur universities.
The Department has already written letters to both the varsities seeking documents related to various issues like mode of promotions, the process of recruitments and audit reports.
