Rayagada District Administration Struggles To Deliver Relief To Flood Victims
**Rayagada:** Rayagada District Administration is struggling to deliver relief materials to the marooned population in the flood affected areas due to inavailability of food products.
According to reports, the administration has sent 5,000 packets of food since yesterday (Sunday) for more than 10,000 flood victims in the Kalyansinghpur block which was delivered in the morning. People in the shelters are waiting for any additional support since then.
Speaking on this, relief camp official Laxmi Narayan Sahoo informed, “Flattened rice is not sufficiently available in the district. The administration is bringing from the neighboring districts. We will start packing foods as soon as we get them.”
Clarifying the situation, Collector Guha Punam Tapas Kumar said, “We have already requisitioned flattened rice from Koraput. It is on its way. Dry food packets are being delivered with the help of local police and civil supply machinery and 5,000 more packets will be sent to the flood hit areas very soon.”
Earlier this (Monday) morning, relief teams airdropped food packets to the victims at Majhiguda, Kumbharguda, Brahmana Sahi, Kumbharsahi and Sai Nagar areas. Cooked food was also served to the people taking shelter in schools.
