Bhubaneswar: While the first CCTV footage of Jajpur district provided clue to apprehend prime accused Rakesh Swain for his suspected role behind the mysterious death of Jharafula Nayak, a +3 second year student of Rama Devi (RD) Women’s University here, yesterday’s second one evinced the alleged lovebirds’ stay in a guesthouse in Khandagiri area while today’s CCTV footage depicts both dining in a restaurant near Lingaraj railway station.
The second and third CCTV footages of the city are assumed to be corroborative evidence to establish the close link between the deceased girl and the arrested prime accused as her body was found dumped on a roadside spot under Kuakhia PS limits in Jajpur district on January 27 morning hours. The Jajpur CCTV footage has already captured two youths on a bike carrying the girl. Even the local eyewitnesses have informed police that two unknown persons on a bike dumped the girl and fled the spot.
Meanwhile, Jajpur police produced Rakesh Swain before the local court there and his remand has been sought for further interrogation. Even the Airfield police here in the city are also planning to get the custody of Rakesh for grilling him on the two CCTV footages captured here a day before the dumped body of Jharafula was recovered from Jajpur district.
Till now, Rakesh has confessed to be with her girlfriend but denies to have murdered her claiming that she died from food poison.
While the suspense over the real cause behind the death still lingers, the finger of suspicion is being pointed at Rakesh as to why the body was disposed of far away from Bhubaneswar.
The Kuakhia police in Jajpur district are yet to reveal the cause of death quoting the post mortem report as it is claimed to be awaited.
