Puri: A day after the arrest of the accused in the rape of a 5-year-old girl in Puri town, the district police has decided to treat it as a Red Flag case.
Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh said that they are taking the case seriously and it will be declared a Red Flag case after a discussion with the Crime Branch.
He informed that the charge sheet will be filed within 20 days. The police are in touch with the court and will request for speedy trial after submitting the charge sheet.
Besides, the police are also in touch with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and in the next meeting will ensure that the survivor gets the entitled compensation.
Singh said that the accused, who is a driver, was nabbed on the outskirts of Puri near Bhubaneswar border yesterday after conducting several raids in Puri and the native place of the accused in Jagatsinghpur.
It was possible due to the hard efforts of a joint team comprising of IICs of Town Police Station, Sea Beach Police Station, Baselishahi Police Station, Baliapanda Police Station, under the supervision of DSP City and Additional SP.
