**Balasore:** In a bizarre incident, names of five families were written down on the walls of the village temple in Kalik village in Jaleswar block here that are barred to offer prayers.
The reason behind this, as sources revealed, is that they are debarred from the temple since these families refused to give donation at the temple that was charged by the temple committee.
This incident came to light when members of the five families lodged an FIR at
Raibania police station.
The names written on the wall are Nirmal Mohapatra, Parimal Mohapatra, Bimal Kumar Mohapatra, Sarbeshwar Mohapatra and Mrunal kanti Mohapatra.
Notably, the village committee had recently organised a festival titled ‘Patta Parba’ with donations collected from the villagers. But, the marked families denied donating because of the alleged high amount of money. Following this they were denied entry inside the village temple.
The complainants also alleged that their puja thalis were thrown out when they went to offer their prayers at the temple.
On the other hand, the village head Prafulla Kumar Sura denied the allegations saying all villagers have to abide by the decisions of the village committee. Justifying the act he said that they are subjected to get barred since the priest who performs the rituals is paid from that donation. He further said that the families can hire their personal priest if they need.
Meanwhile, the Raibania police has registered a case against two youths and are investigating into the matter.
