**Bhubaneswar:** A regional officer of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha was apprehended by vigilance sleuths in Bhubaneswar yesterday after unaccounted money amounting to Rs 96,500 and a gold coin weighing 10 gram was seized from his possession.
Based on a reliable information regarding collection of huge amount as illegal gratification by regional officer (Jajpur) of SPCB, Hadibandhu Panigrahi, officers of Vigilance Bhubaneswar Division intercepted his vehicle near Khandagiri bari here while he was on his way from Jajpur to his house at Khandagiri.
Soon after the seizure of the cash and gold coin, Panigrahi’s residential house at Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar was raided and disproportionate assets amounting to Rs 1.36 crore was found from his possession.
Documents regarding one plot at Angul, one double storied building at Khandagiri, gold ornaments weighing 442 gram including one gold coin of 10 gram, silver 1.16 kg, One Tavera vehicle, one Maruti Ritz Car, one Maruti 800 Car, one Honda Aviator Scooter, costly household articles, one Crusher Unit, investments in LIC, Fixed deposits, Bank deposits and other relevant documents relating to investment in shares/ bonds and Air-tickets relating to foreign visit were found from his house.
Panigrahi was court forwarded today after which he was remanded to judicial custody till October 20.
