Bhubaneswar: A day before the mega launching of Covid-19 vaccination across the State as well as nation, Odisha Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Director Bijay Panigrahi informed that all the registered health workers will be intimated today about the designated vaccination centre and time in their respective areas via SMS alert.

He also informed that the antibody will be formed after 42 days of the first dose and after 14 days of the second dose.

He further informed that any one vaccinated and gets infected after the first dose will no more be administered with the second dose.

Talking to media, the H&FW Director informed, “We have already dispatched the vaccine to all the districts from our State Vaccine Store here. From each district vaccine store, it has already been sent to the respective cold chain points. Now the vaccine will be sent from the cold chain points to the respective session sites tomorrow morning before the launching by hon’ble Prime Minister.”

He added, “41 deep freezers have been received from Government of India. These will also be distributed to each district. We have already issued the vaccination guideline to the districts.”

“One who will be vaccinated, second dose will be administered after 28 days of the first dose. Same brand vaccine will be administered as the second dose also. No inter-change will be entertained because we are using two types of vaccine, Covishield and Covaxin. Instructions have been given accordingly,” stated the Health Director.

He also informed, “As per our medical term ‘principle of saturation’, we are taking utmost care to ensure that all the registered recipients are vaccinated. After completing one institution, the registered recipients of other institution will be vaccinated. We have planned accordingly as per the availability of the vaccine. First preference will be given to cover the tertiary or critical institutions.”
