Bhubaneswar: Ganjam district administration has ordered to close all the religious institutions and public places in the district for the next seven days to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Ganjam Collector observed that as the State is passing through a critical situation due to detection of the new variant of SARS-Cov 2 and it is necessary to strictly adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols for the containment of the spread of the infection.
Keeping in view of the gravity of the resurgence due to Covid-19 pandemic and as preventive measures in the interest of the general health of the public and preventing the spread of infection, he has issued the following instructions.
1. It is hereby ordered that all religious institutions of Ganjam district are closed for public for next seven days from 14.04.2021 to 21.04.2021. During this time all religious places will be sanitized and Sevayat/Priest will ensure only daily rituals in religious places.
2. All public places like Parks, Grounds, Sea Beach & Lake shall be closed for 7 (seven) days with effect from 14.04.2021 to 21.04.2021 for maintenance and sanitization purpose.
3. Celebration of Meru Jatra and Pana Sankranti shall not be celebrated publicly.
The Collector further ordered that the above activities shall be supervised by Commissioner, BeMC in Berhampur Municipal Area and Sub-Divisional Magistrate in their respective jurisdiction through concerned Tahasildars, Block Development Officer and Executive Officer, NAC.
Any person violating the measures will be liable to be proceeded against in accordance with respective provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897, and Regulations issued thereunder. Besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions as applicable.
