Bhubaneswar: The construction of Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Institute has made remarkable progress.
This was revealed during a review and field visit by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and Chairman Odisha Skill Development Corporation and architect of Karunashraya Subroto Bagchi.
Mohapatra made a field-level review of the under-construction hospital at the 20 acre land provided by the State government for the purpose at Infovalley-2.
During the review it was found that work has started on construction of 750 bedded hospital. Earlier, it was planned for 500 bed capacity.
Good progress has been made in the construction of the outpatient department (OPD) and ground floor of the hospital.
It is targeted to start patient service by 2023 Rath Yatra with completion of first phase of the hospital.
Later Mohapatra and Bagchi reviewed progress of construction of the Bagchi-Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre in Infovalley-2.
It is targeted to be completed by July 2023. The facility will have 150 beds and a 500 seat auditorium for research teaching and research.
Bagchi informed that a temporary home-care service and OPD has been launched at Gandamunda.
As of now, the Centre has provided home-based care to 128 patients and palliative care to 36 patients in the terminal stage.
