Vessel 'Samudra Kaustubh'

Bhubaneswar: A government research vessel, ‘Samudra Kaustubh’ with 25 crew members on board got stuck in the Bay of Bengal after its engine developed a technical snag due to the rough sea condition under the influence of cyclone “Hamoon”.

The directionless vessel was floating in the middle of the sea due to the engine failure. After the incident came to fore, the Indian Coast Guard swung into action and started a rescue operation.

The Indian Coast Guard engaged INS ‘Amogha’ for its rescue.

The ‘Samudra Kaustubh’ is being towed to shore by the Coast Guard vessel and is likely to reach Paradip port by Wednesday evening, reports said.
