Bhubaneswar: A retired Senior Clerk from Padampur Tahasil in Bargarh district was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case.
Trilochan Sahu was found guilty of possessing disproportionate assets and was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bargarh.
The case was registered under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, which pertains to criminal misconduct by public servants in possession of wealth disproportionate to their lawful income. This conviction is a testament to the Odisha Vigilance’s commitment to ensuring accountability among public servants, even after their retirement.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to initiate proceedings for stopping Sahu’s pension benefits.
