Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Bhubaneswar on Friday sentenced a retired Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) from Nayagarh Forest Division Prasant Kumar Mandhata to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 20,000 after convicting him in a disproportionate assets case.
The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted Mandhata under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following the verdict, Odisha Vigilance announced it would move the competent authority to seek the stoppage of Mandhata’s pension, a standard measure for convicted public servants.
