Sundergarh: A retired additional Tehsildar was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment by a special vigilance court in connection with a bribery case in Sundergarh district.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on Kapilendra Naik, former Tehasildar at Kuarmunda Tehasil in Sundargarh. In default of payment of fine, he would undergo further rigorous imprisonment for three months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) P.C. Act, 1988.
The Court further sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000. In default of payment of fine, he would undergo further rigorous imprisonment for two months more for the offence U/s 7 PC Act, 1988.
Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the court clarified.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of his pension following conviction.
Naik was arrested by the vigilance in 2016 for accepting bribe from a complainant to finalise his mutation case.
