Bhubaneswar: A retired ARTO of Sundergarh district was sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh in a disproportionate assets case.
A special Vigilance court in Sundargarh directed Chaitanya Charan Jena, Ex-ARTO (Retired), Unified Check Gate, Biramitrapur to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for six months in default of payment of fine.
The convict Chaitanya Charan Jena was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Chaitanya Charan Jena following his conviction.
Former vigilance DSP, Rourkela division, P.K. Naik had investigated the case and Shyam Sundar Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor, Vigilance conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
