Bhubaneswar: A retired Assistant engineer was convicted by vigilance court in Berhampur and sentenced to three years imprisonment in a corruption case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Narayan Panda. In default of payment of fine, he would undergo further rigorous imprisonment for three months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988.
Panda was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Berhampur U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets (DA).
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of his pension following his conviction.
Deba Narayan Das, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Berhampur Division had investigated the case and special PP Surendra Panda conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
