Bhubaneswar: A retired assistant Revenue Inspector of Mandari Revenue Circle under Bari Tahasil in Jajpur was convicted and sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.
A special vigilance court in Cuttack also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict Khageswar Kabi failing which he would undergo further six months rigorous imprisonment for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 P.C. Act, 1988.
Kabi was arrested in 2013 for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant to submit a verification report in five mutation cases.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Kabi following his conviction.
