Retired BDO Gets 2-Yr RI For Amassing Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Special Vigilance Court, Bolangir on Friday sentenced retired Block Development Officer (BDO) of Agalpur block in Bolangir district Sylvanus Lakra to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 2 years and pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh for possessing disproportionate assets (DA).

In default of payment of fine Lakra has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 5 months more.

Lakra was convicted under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988, said an official statement of Odisha Vigilance.

The anti-corruption agency will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Lakra following his conviction, the statement added.
