Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Angul on Monday sentenced Kulamani Pradhan, a retired draftsman of CESU, Angul, to four years of rigorous imprisonment in a corruption case. The court also imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on him.
According to an official press release, Pradhan was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the PC Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 from a complainant in exchange for a domestic electricity connection.
Following the sentencing, Pradhan was sent to jail to serve his term. The Vigilance Department will now move the competent authority to stop his pension following the conviction.
