Bhubaneswar: The former Deputy Director (Retired) of the Production and Maintenance wing of Text Book Press in Bhubaneswar was convicted and sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment for possessing disproportionate assets.
Bhubaneswar Special Vigilance Court also directed Pratap Kishore Chhotray to pay a fine of Rs 2 lakh. In default of payment of fine, he has to undergo further six months of rigorous imprisonment for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.
The vigilance registered a case in 2012 and unearthed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.10,37,965 during the investigation.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Chhotray following his conviction.
Former vigilance inspector, Bhubaneswar Division B.B. Mallick had investigated the case and Ajit Kumar Pattnaik, Public Prosecutor conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
