Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore on Thursday sentenced retired former District Inspector (DI) of Schools, Basta in Balasore district Padmalochan Das to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of two years and pay a fine of Rs 20,000 after convicting him for financial misappropriation.
The court ruled that in default of payment of fine Das to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two months more for the offence under section 409 IPC.
The court further sentenced him to undergo RI for a period of one year and to pay fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo RI for a period of one month more for the offence under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(c) of PC Act, 1988.
The court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and to pay fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo RI for a period of one month more for the offence under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)(ii) of PC Act, 1988. The court further sentenced him to undergo RI for a period of one year for the offence U/s 477-A IPC.
Das was charge sheeted by the Vigilance for misappropriation of financial dues like Temporary GPF, Final GPF and Festival advance of teachers.
Vigilance will now move the competent authority to stop pension of Das following his conviction
