Bhubaneswar: A special vigilance court in Balasore on Wednesday convicted retired Junior Horticulture Officer of Nilgiri Brajendra Mishra and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years for demanding and accepting a bribe from a beneficiary for releasing the subsidy under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM) scheme.
According to sources, Mishra was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding illegal gratification from the beneficiary for releasing the subsidy.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mishra following his conviction.
