Retired Marketing Inspector, Wife Sentenced To Two Years In Jail In DA Case

Jeypore: A retired marketing inspector and his wife of Kashipur in Rayagada district were convicted and sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case.

A special vigilance court in Jeypore also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each on Prafulla Chandra Panigrahi and wife Renubala. In default of payment of fine, they would undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of three months.

Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted the couple under section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act,1988/109 IPC for possession of disproportionate assets to their known sources of income.

Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension of Panigrahi, an official statement said.
