Retired Revenue Inspector In Odisha Gets 2 Yrs RI In Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack on Tuesday sentenced retired Revenue Inspector of Padmapur under Ersama tahasil of Jagatsinghpur district Jhata Kishore Hati to two years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and to pay a fine of Rs 5000 after convicting him in a bribery case.

The court further ordered that in default of payment of fine Hati has to undergo RI for six months more.

According to an official press release, Hati was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under section 13(2) read with 13 (1) (d)/7 of the PC Act for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for submitting an enquiry report for the issue of RoR (Patta) in respect of agriculture land.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Jhata Kishore Hati, Ex-RI (Retired) following his conviction, the release added.
