Bhubaneswar: A Revenue Inspector (RI) was killed and six others were injured as a car they were travelling in lost control and crashed into a tree near Serenabeda village under Hindol police limits in Angul district.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the family members of two RIs were returning from the Maa Taratarini temple in Berhampur. The car, carrying the family members, crashed into a tree after losing control near Seranabeda village in Hindol block.
The deceased, identified as RI Mrityunjay Panigrahi, succumbed to injuries while being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to his critical condition. His wife, Debasmita Dixit, and three-month-old daughter were severely injured in the mishap. The other injured include Suprakash Sethy, his wife Sujata Sethy, Manu Sethy, and Swastik Sethy. All the injured are currently undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Angul.
The accident has sent shockwaves in the local community, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
