Bhubaneswar: A smart surveillance system aimed at ensuring transparency and efficiency in the land registration process was inaugurated by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari at the office of the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) under the Board of Revenue at Cuttack.

During the launching of the system on Tuesday, Minister Pujari emphasized the state government’s commitment to streamlining land registration by leveraging innovative technologies. He noted that the system will enable citizens to conduct land registration activities seamlessly and securely, thereby fostering trust in the registration process.

The newly launched system integrates advanced monitoring capabilities, including continuous audio-visual recording, to oversee the activities of registration office staff and visitors.

This ensures compliance with security protocols and operational standards. The captured recordings can serve as evidence in case of disputes or complaints, contributing to a more transparent and accountable process.

Citizens will benefit from online submission of documents for property registration, enabling them to fix advance dates and times for filing.

Encumbrance certificates, certified copies, and marriage registration applications can now be completed online, improving convenience. Registered documents will also be available instantly through the portal. To ensure payment transparency, applicants will receive SMS notifications detailing their transactions.

The system includes mechanisms for tracking progress and submitting complaints through the IGR portal, ensuring prompt resolution. Feedback from citizens can be provided online or through registers maintained at the registration offices, allowing continuous service enhancement. These measures aim to create a safe, efficient, and citizen-centric environment across the 213 Registrar and Sub-Registrar offices in the state.

Minister Pujari emphasized the importance of sincerity and integrity among staff in implementing the system effectively. He expressed confidence that the initiative would enhance public confidence in the land registration process.

The event saw the presence of several senior officials, including Member, Board of Revenue, C.J. Venugopal; Inspector General of Registration, Subrat Satpathy; Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central), B. Parameswaram; Commissioner of Land Records & Settlements, R. Vineel Krishna; and Director,Land Records Survey & Consolidation, Bijay Kumar Khandayat Ray and senior officers were present.
