Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested one Sanjay Kumar Padhi, Revenue Supervisor of Suliapada tahasil in Mayurbhanj while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from a blind person (complainant) to facilitate the sanction of incentive amount in his favour towards marriage between a disabled and a normal person.
As per the scheme of the SS&EPD Department of the State Government incentive is awarded for marriage between person with bench mark disability and other person.
The blind person got himself married with a normal person (without disability) on November 3, 2022.
He was entitled to get the incentive amount of Rs 2.5 lakh as per the aforementioned scheme of the State Government. Revenue Supervisor Padhi was demanding bribe from him to submit enquiry report as regards his marriage to the Tahasildar.
On getting information from the complainant about this, accused Padhi was nabbed by Vigilance team while he was accepting the bribe.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Padhi, Revenue Supervisor and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance has launched simultaneous searches at two locations of Padhi to trace possible disproportionate assets accumulated by him.
The Vigilance has registered a case against Padhi in this connection, and further investigation is in progress against him.
